Japan's FSA backs stablecoin pilot for trade settlements
- —Six firms applied, including TradeWaltz, NTT Data and Mizuho Bank
- —Stablecoins will be linked to the TradeWaltz trade platform for export payments
- —The pilot starts in September 2026 and runs indefinitely
- —The FSA will hold the first meeting of its on-chain finance forum on Sept 30
Why it matters: If extended to importers, stablecoin settlement could cut trade payment times and accelerate institutional adoption in Japan.
