
Taiwan opens bank pilots for tokenized deposits, only Taishin Bank applies
- —Regulator opened applications on Sept. 22 under its financial pilot rules
- —Taishin Bank is the only lender to express interest so far
- —Pilot is limited to internal settlement, with no interbank plans
- —Tokenized deposits remain deposits, subject to reserves, insurance and interest
Why it matters: Taiwan is taking a cautious step into deposit tokenization while JPMorgan, HSBC and DBS already test public chains and cross-border settlement.
