Dorsey's Bitchat tops French social app charts after Orange outage
- —Bitchat relies on Bluetooth and the Nostr protocol instead of mobile networks
- —The Orange outage on Oct. 21 lasted about 10 hours
- —Around 550,000 people joined the Oct. 17 protests
- —The app supports bitcoin transfers via Cashu
Why it matters: Bitchat's surge highlights demand for censorship- and outage-resistant messaging with built-in bitcoin payments.
