Kraken's opt-in EEA Unified Wallet can expose spot holdings to futures losses
- —Activation is manual in Kraken Pro settings; futures trading must be enabled separately
- —Cross margin is the default: BTC and ETH count at 99% of value, USD and EUR at 100%
- —USDT and DAI carry a 100% haircut and zero collateral value for EEA users
- —Switching back to separate wallets requires closing all derivatives positions and active orders
Why it matters: Losses can now reach spot balances that were previously isolated from futures, so European traders should review their margin settings.
