France may revive a tax regularization window for crypto in 2027
- —The 2027 budget mentions a tax compliance mechanism without details; scope will be set by amendments
- —The 2013–2017 STDR predecessor raised about €8 billion and drew over 50,000 applications
- —Penalties for an undeclared crypto account reach €750, or €1,500 above €50,000, plus an 80% surcharge
- —From January 1, 2026, DAC8 requires providers to collect data on clients' crypto transactions
Why it matters: If crypto is included, French holders could regularize at reduced penalties before DAC8 data sharing begins in 2027.
