US credit spreads widened beyond weakest borrowers, then eased on October 2
- —CCC-and-lower spread rose 87 bps, from 11.28% to 12.15%
- —Broad high-yield spread added 31 bps, from 2.93% to 3.24%
- —Investment-grade spread rose just 5 bps, from 0.81% to 0.86%
- —On October 2 spreads eased: CCC 12.02%, high yield 3.10%, IG 0.85%
Why it matters: Costlier financing could push institutions to cut risk and weigh on Bitcoin, though spreads have only slightly retraced.
