SEC and CFTC push nine crypto actions since August as $113,000 Bitcoin case builds
- —SEC proposed a custody framework on Oct. 1 for advisers and funds, permitting self-custody in some cases
- —Aug. 18 Regulation Crypto Assets proposal offers exemptions up to $5 million over four years and $75 million in 12 months
- —SEC granted a five-year Innovation Exemption on Sept. 17 for tokenized NMS stocks on permissioned AMMs
- —CFTC registered Coinbase Clearing as a DCO on Sept. 28 for fully collateralized futures, options and swaps
Why it matters: If the custody, transfer-agent and offering proposals become final rules aligned with the CFTC's market framework, issuance, trading, collateral, clearing and custody would run under one regime, supporting adviser and brokerage allocations.
