TRON quantum security design may prevent some wallets from changing keys
- —As of September 12, 2026, TIP-899 remains in Draft status, and mainnet activation is unconfirmed
- —Falcon FN-DSA-512 and ML-DSA-44 are enabled on the Nile testnet, and each scheme requires separate approval
- —Disabling a scheme rejects its signature even if the remaining keys reach the required weight
- —An owner right with a single Falcon key (weight 1, threshold 1) will not be able to change permissions after the scheme is disabled
Why it matters: If the design is adopted as currently written, some TRON users risk losing the ability to change keys during the migration to quantum-resistant signatures.
