Solana's Alpenglow goes live, cutting finality to a 404 ms median
- —Alpenglow activated in epoch 1064, first finalized block at slot 459,653,000
- —446 of 654 validators certified the handoff block
- —Median finality 404 ms; 90th percentile 579 ms, 99th percentile 765 ms
- —Rotor, the planned block distribution replacement, has no activation date
Why it matters: Faster finality lowers rollback risk, but exchanges and RPC providers may keep their old confirmation delays before crediting users.
