Solana ships v3 of its JavaScript SDK built on Solana Kit

  • —Nine legacy web3.js classes rebuilt on Solana Kit, with familiar class names preserved
  • —Keypair.generate() and other methods are now async; numbers use bigint, account data uses Uint8Array
  • —Packages tied to the SDK logged over 3 million downloads in a recent week
  • —v3.0.0 was tagged October 1 and v3.0.1 on October 5; legacy version 1 moves to maintenance-only
Why it matters: The SDK underpins a large share of Solana apps, so the migration will ripple across the ecosystem and force developers to rework code.
