bitFlyer and Coincheck will not distribute new Bitcoin fork token ECX to users
- —bitFlyer confirmed on Oct. 15 it will not distribute ECX or cash equivalents
- —Coincheck said on Oct. 9 it also has no plans to support or distribute ECX
- —Both exchanges do not plan to halt BTC trading or transfers over the fork
- —ECX is distinct from the existing token XEC, which shares the eCash name
Why it matters: The fork will lack support from Japan's largest exchanges, reducing its liquidity and value for BTC holders.
