Metaplanet and Strategy shift capital to share buybacks over Bitcoin
- —Metaplanet bought 73.98 million shares at ¥261, about ¥19.31 billion, or 76.3% of its plan
- —Metaplanet's ¥52 billion convertible bonds carry a ¥339 conversion price and mature in October 2031
- —Strategy repurchased $192.4 million of STRC preferred shares on October 5–11 and bought 250 BTC for $21.5 million
- —Full conversion of Metaplanet's bonds would create about 153.39 million shares, 79.4 million more than the buyback
Why it matters: Treasury companies are redirecting capital to their own securities, changing BTC-per-share exposure and debt structure.
