Zcash rushes Zebra releases ahead of NU7 upgrade
- —Four Zebra releases in two weeks: three in the 6.4.x branch plus release candidate 7.0.0-rc.0
- —Zebra 6.4.2 fixes an OSS-Fuzz-found flaw where a malformed transaction from any peer could remotely crash a node
- —NU7 is live on testnet since October 4 (block 4,465,026); mainnet tentatively set for November 5, 2026
- —NU7 will cut block times from 75 to 25 seconds and reserve 60% of fees
Why it matters: Node operators must upgrade to 6.4.2 immediately, while NU7 could significantly speed up the network and reshape its fee economics.
