Lightning Network nodes and channels decline in September, capacity rises to 3,746 BTC
- —Public nodes fell to ~13,631, down 172 (−1.2%) from late August
- —Channels dropped by 1,769 to ~35,060 (−4.8%) over the month
- —Capacity rose 42 BTC to ~3,746 BTC (+1.1%)
- —About 4,000 BTC was drained from Liquid Network; 602 BTC not returned
Why it matters: Fewer nodes and channels alongside rising capacity point to network consolidation and growing reliance on large operators.
