Electrum patches Lightning flaw, but old Bitcoin backups break
- —Version 4.8.2, dated Sept. 11, remains the latest release on Electrum's site as of Oct. 1
- —The defect affects wallets with non-deterministic Lightning keys and anchor channels
- —Wallets based on BIP39 seeds or imported xprvs always have non-deterministic Lightning keys
- —PR 10851 retains a randomly generated Lightning private key that exports previously deleted
Why it matters: Holders of old Electrum backups with Lightning channels should create fresh exports, or funds in anchor channels may become unrecoverable.
